Supporting Culture on the Water: Integ Marine Group and Tribal Warrior

Sydney Harbour is one of the most recognised waterways in the world. For Tribal Warrior, it is also a place of cultural storytelling, employment pathways, and community connection.

Tribal Warrior is a Sydney-based Aboriginal-led not-for-profit organisation delivering cultural, employment, and wellbeing programs for the Aboriginal community. Through its fleet of vessels operating on the harbour, the organisation shares stories, history, and knowledge with visitors while creating meaningful employment and training opportunities.

When one of their vessels required a replacement window within a sliding galley section, Integ Marine Group was proud to step in and provide the manufacturing and installation work pro bono.

Keeping Purpose-Driven Vessels Operational

Vessels that serve cultural and community missions rely on the same standards of safety, precision, and durability as any commercial operation. A failed window, even a small one, can affect not only comfort and safety but also the ability to continue operating without disruption.

Through our specialist glazing division, Marine Window Services, we will manufacture and install the replacement window using the same materials, tolerances, and installation processes applied to our large-scale commercial and superyacht projects. Pro bono support does not mean reduced standards. It means applying our expertise where it can have meaningful impact.

Maintaining vessels that serve cultural and community purposes is essential. Skilled marine work, often unseen, plays a critical role in keeping these programs running safely and professionally on the water.

A Shared Commitment to Community

At Integ Marine Group, we believe partnerships matter. We support organisations that make a positive difference in their communities and contribute to the broader marine sector.

Our collaboration with Tribal Warrior reflects a commitment to meaningful community engagement and responsible industry participation. Partnerships like this align with our long-term vision as a marine specialist operating within, and contributing to, the communities we serve.

Marine Expertise Applied with Purpose

Integ Marine Group specialises in marine glass manufacturing and precision installation across superyachts, commercial vessels, and complex marine projects. Whether working on large-scale glazing packages or a single replacement window, our approach remains consistent.

We focus on precision, durability, and long-term performance. Every installation must withstand the demands of UV exposure, saltwater, vibration, and heat. The replacement window for Tribal Warrior’s vessel will be completed to these same standards, ensuring reliability and safety for crew and passengers alike.

By bringing our technical capability into a community context, we demonstrate that marine expertise extends beyond commercial outcomes. It contributes directly to organisations that operate with purpose.

Strengthening Our Presence in Sydney

Supporting Tribal Warrior also strengthens our connection to the Sydney marine community. With a growing presence in the region, Integ Marine Group continues to build relationships with vessel operators, shipyards, and organisations that value quality and professionalism.

This partnership highlights our capability in real-world conditions on Sydney Harbour, reinforcing both our technical credibility and our commitment to responsible industry participation.

Looking Ahead

Cultural cruises, employment programs, and community initiatives rely on vessels that are safe, compliant, and professionally maintained. By supporting Tribal Warrior, we are helping ensure those programs can continue without interruption.

Partnerships like this reflect who we are as a business. We bring the same care, precision, and professionalism to pro bono work as we do to commercial superyacht and large-scale glazing projects.

At Integ Marine Group, our long-term vision extends beyond projects. It includes contributing positively to the communities and waterways in which we operate.

Delivering Large-Scale Glazing Projects for Superyachts

Contemporary superyacht design continues to push boundaries, with expansive glazing now central to both performance and aesthetics. Large bridge windscreens, panoramic hull windows, and bonded glass systems have become defining features of high-value vessels. Delivering these elements at scale requires specialist expertise across manufacturing, installation, and project coordination.

At Integ Marine Group, we specialise in large-scale marine glazing projects for superyachts and complex vessels. Our integrated delivery model brings together marine glass manufacturing, precision installation, and coordinated project execution, allowing us to manage extensive glazing packages with consistency and control.

Purpose-Built for Complex Glazing Packages

Large superyacht projects often involve dozens of individual glass and plastic components, each engineered to meet specific structural, environmental, and aesthetic requirements. Managing this volume requires careful planning, sequencing, and technical oversight from the earliest stages of a project.

Our teams work closely with shipyards and project managers to define glazing scopes, installation methodologies, and timelines that align with broader build programs. This approach reduces risk, limits rework, and ensures glazing systems are installed efficiently without compromising quality.

Through Marine Window Services, our specialist glazing division, we deliver installation and refit expertise across new builds and major conversions, supporting vessels with complex, window-heavy designs.

Integrated Manufacturing and Installation Capability

A core strength of Integ Marine Group is our ability to provide end-to-end marine solutions. Our manufacturing capability supports the production of marine glass and plastic systems engineered specifically for large vessels, including flat and curved applications, bonded installations, and structural glazing.

By integrating manufacturing with installation, we maintain tight control over tolerances, materials, and performance outcomes. This reduces reliance on multiple suppliers and provides a single point of accountability across the glazing scope, which is critical on high-value superyacht projects.

Experience Across Global Superyacht Projects

Large-scale glazing projects frequently extend beyond local waters. Integ Marine Group has delivered glazing solutions across multiple countries and continents, supporting superyacht new builds and refits in diverse operating environments.

This global project experience informs our approach to logistics, compliance, and installation methodology. It also ensures we understand the practical challenges of working across shipyards, ports, and jurisdictions, enabling smooth delivery regardless of location.

Engineered for Performance and Longevity

Superyacht glazing must perform under demanding conditions. Heat, UV exposure, vibration, and saltwater all place ongoing stress on window systems. When multiplied across a large vessel, minor inconsistencies can have significant long-term consequences.

Our glazing solutions are engineered with vessel size, usage, and environmental exposure in mind. Material selection, bonding systems, and installation processes are tailored to support durability, safety, and visual clarity over the life of the vessel.

A Proven Partner for Superyacht Glazing Projects

Large superyacht projects demand precision, coordination, and experience. Our integrated model allows us to support complex glazing scopes from early planning through to final installation, reducing risk and delivering consistent outcomes across large window packages.

Whether supporting a new build or a major refit, Integ Marine Group provides the technical depth, manufacturing capability, and installation expertise required to deliver large-scale superyacht glazing projects with confidence.

Summer Prep Checklist: Essential Boat Maintenance Before the Holiday Rush

As the summer boating season approaches, preparation becomes critical. Small maintenance issues can quickly escalate into costly delays, safety concerns, or missed time on the water if left unchecked. For vessel owners, marinas, and maintenance teams, early inspection and planning are the difference between a smooth season and last-minute repairs.

At Integ Marine Group, we support vessels across new builds, refits, and seasonal maintenance. One area consistently overlooked until it becomes a problem is window and seal integrity. Summer conditions place significant stress on glazing systems, making now the time to inspect, repair, or refit.

Below is a practical checklist to help prepare your vessel before peak season.

1. Inspect Windows, Seals, and Hatches

Marine windows and hatches are exposed to constant UV radiation, salt, vibration, and rising temperatures. As summer approaches, expansion and contraction increase, often revealing weaknesses that remained hidden during cooler months.

Inspect for:

  • lifting or cracked seals
  • fogging or moisture between panes
  • discolouration or corrosion around frames
  • movement in bonded glass or hatches

Left unattended, these issues can lead to water ingress, mould, interior damage, and reduced visibility. Through our specialist division, Marine Window Services, we deliver professional inspection, resealing, repair, and full window refit solutions, including custom glazing systems for superyachts and complex vessels.

2. Check for Water Leaks and Structural Moisture

Leaks around windows and penetrations rarely stay contained. Moisture can migrate into bulkheads, ceilings, and hidden cavities, accelerating corrosion and damaging interior finishes.

Early inspections allow sufficient time to identify the source of leaks and carry out proper repairs rather than rushed fixes. We focus on diagnosing glazing-related ingress and addressing root causes to restore long-term watertight integrity.

3. Review Engines and Mechanical Systems

Mechanical reliability is essential during peak boating periods when service availability is limited. A pre-season service should include oil and filter changes, cooling system checks, belt inspections, and fuel condition assessment.

Vessels that have been idle are particularly vulnerable to degraded fuel and corrosion. Addressing these issues early reduces the risk of breakdowns when support is harder to access.

4. Assess Electrical and Lighting Systems

Electrical inspections should be carried out by licensed marine electricians. However, it is important to recognise the link between window integrity and electrical reliability. Water ingress from degraded seals can affect wiring, switchboards, and lighting systems over time.

If our glazing inspections identify moisture tracking toward wiring or switch panels, we recommend engaging an electrical specialist promptly to prevent failures during peak use.

5. Confirm Safety Equipment and Compliance

Before heavy summer use, all safety equipment should be checked for condition and compliance. This includes lifejackets, flares, fire extinguishers, EPIRBs, and first aid supplies. Commercial operators should also ensure required audits and certifications are current.

Why Window Maintenance Matters in Summer

Summer accelerates window degradation. Constant sun exposure dries out older seals, heat expansion stresses bonded systems, and UV radiation weakens materials over time. These factors significantly increase the risk of leaks, fogging, and compromised visibility when vessels are used most.

Addressing window issues early protects glazing systems as well as surrounding structures, interiors, and onboard systems.

Now Is the Time to Book

As the boating season approaches, service demand increases and availability tightens. Booking inspections, repairs, or refits early allows sufficient time for proper assessment, manufacturing, and installation work without compromising quality.

Through Marine Window Services, we provide specialist window replacement, resealing, repair, and custom glazing solutions for private vessels, superyachts, and commercial fleets. Our integrated manufacturing and installation capability ensures precision outcomes and long-term reliability.

If your vessel is entering its busiest season, now is the time to schedule a summer inspection and ensure your windows and seals are ready for the months ahead.

Over 35 Years of Heritage in the Glass Industry: Transitioning the Marine Glass Business into the Future

For those familiar with Marine Window Services (MWS), the name Freeman Kemp represents more than its founding — it stands for craftsmanship, perseverance, and the spark that shaped what is now Integ Marine Group.

Freeman’s story is one of curiosity turned into expertise. From his beginnings in automotive glass to his pioneering role in marine glazing, his journey laid the groundwork for an operation that continues to thrive under Darren’s leadership.

From Automotive to Marine

“Production engineering is my area of expertise, both in qualifications and work experience. I started out in a windscreen factory, and I was fortunate to have a traineeship back in those days — half my study time was paid for by the employer. So that was my first four or five years: working in a factory making automotive windscreens.”

By the mid-1990s, Freeman had moved north and transitioned into small business, running a Novus windscreen repair franchise. It wasn’t long before the marine world came knocking.

“People started bringing in boat window problems and asking, ‘Can you fix this for me?’ Of course, I said, ‘Absolutely — no problem!’”

What began as a few side projects quickly evolved into a full-time pursuit. “At the last minute, I added a clause to the sale [of my windscreen business] that allowed me to keep working on boat windows — because trade restrictions usually prevent that. The buyers were more than happy; they said, ‘We don’t want anything to do with boat windows.’ So off I went — and that’s how Marine Window Services was born in 2003.”

A Craft, Not a Trade

“The skill and knowledge involved in boat windows is more of a craft or artistic expression,” Freeman says. “You’re either the kind of person who does it properly or you’re not.”

His approach quickly set MWS apart. “Many in the marine trade didn’t want to touch it because they didn’t know how, but I had years of experience with glass and saw that many design principles being adopted in the marine industry actually came from automotive technology. That gave me a head start helping the marine sector transition from old to new styles.”

By 2010, Marine Window Services had made its mark internationally, completing major projects for superyachts across Spain, New Zealand, Fiji, North America, and Europe. “Who would’ve thought a little boat window business that started off the back of a windscreen shop would go international?” Freeman reflects. “People used to say, ‘Surely in North America they can do that.’ Well, yes, they can — but not quite as well as we could.”

Passing the Torch

After more than a decade building the business, Freeman began considering its next chapter. “After 20 years of working as hard as I did, I was really keen to find somebody who wanted to take it to the next step,” he explains. “When I realised after meeting Darren that this could be the renaissance of Marine Window Services, I knew it was the right move.”

He saw in Darren both the capability and drive to scale what he had built. “Darren struck me as being somebody who was, or always would be, going to steer the thing from the front. He wasn’t going to work in the business; he was going to work on the business,” Freeman says.

In 2022, Freeman officially handed over Marine Window Services to Darren — a transition that paved the way for the creation of Integ Marine Group.

A Legacy That Lives On

Today, Freeman continues to play an active consulting role within Integ Marine Group, sharing his decades of technical knowledge with the next generation. “I like to think that they listen to me, and that some of those foundational work practices that I introduced into the way we ran Marine Window Services are continuing in Integ now,” he says. “As I’ve said to the boys, in time they will teach me things.”

That exchange of knowledge — between past and present — has become a hallmark of the company’s strength. Freeman notes, “It’s a big melting pot of learning from someone else’s experience, but also filtering the information that comes across the bow. You need to be prepared to keep your eyes and ears open. No one has dibs on the knowledge for any particular industry.”

Strength in Evolution

Looking at Integ Marine Group today, Freeman couldn’t be prouder. “Just the fact that it’s gone from the size that I had it at, and now with the three divisions — that’s a very wise way to market it,” he says. “It’s like watching something grow that I had a fairly big hand in producing and getting it up and walking. I take a lot of pride in it.”

He believes the company’s success under Darren’s leadership comes from shared principles: an unwavering commitment to quality, and the courage to innovate. “I know that Darren subscribes to that quality philosophy that I’ve been rabbiting on about, particularly in the high-end stuff,” Freeman says. “You can’t afford, even just from an image or reputation point of view, to have work that leaks.”

It’s a mutual respect built on experience and trust — a partnership that continues to shape the company’s trajectory. “I genuinely get on with Darren, not only from a business point of view, but also in terms of his quirky sense of humour — we get on,” Freeman says. “In time, they’ll teach me things. Unless you’re working at the coalface, you don’t get to see all the new stuff that comes along.”

Looking Ahead

Freeman’s advice to those entering the marine industry today is simple but powerful: “Quality, in terms of work practices and procedures, and just as importantly, service ethic,” he says. “It’s all well and good to do everything right according to the A to Z, but you need to be understanding with your customer and generally seek to please them.”

That same philosophy continues to guide Integ Marine Group today — a company built on Freeman’s foundations and elevated under Darren’s leadership. Together, they represent the best of both worlds: experience and innovation, tradition and progress.

As Freeman puts it best, “The company’s still growing, still innovating. And the quality’s still there. That’s what matters.”

The Art and Science of Templating: Precision in Marine Glazing

At Integ Marine Group, we understand that the success of marine window replacement hinges on meticulous planning and execution. Central to this process is templating, a critical step that ensures new windows fit precisely, maintain structural integrity, and uphold the aesthetic standards of your vessel.

Understanding Templating in Marine Window Replacement

Templating involves creating an exact replica or pattern of the window to be replaced. This template serves as a guide for fabricating the new glass, ensuring it matches the original in size, shape, and curvature. Given the unique contours and designs of various vessels, templating is indispensable for achieving a seamless fit.

Templating Methods Employed by Integ Marine Group

We utilise several templating techniques, each selected based on the specific requirements of the project:

1. Mylar Templating

  • Application: Ideal for flat glass surfaces.
  • Process:
    • A transparent Mylar sheet is cut to approximate size.
    • The sheet is affixed over the existing window using double-sided tape.
    • Using a permanent marker, the exact outline of the window is traced, including any holes or notches.
    • The template is labelled with pertinent information such as glass thickness, tint, and any special features.
  • Advantages: Quick and cost-effective for straightforward window shapes.

2. MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) Templating

  • Application: Suitable for complex or irregular window shapes.
  • Process:
    • MDF is cut and shaped to match the window opening.
    • This rigid template provides a durable pattern for fabrication.
  • Advantages: Offers a sturdy and precise guide, especially beneficial for unique or intricate designs.

3. Digital Scanning

  • Application: Best for curved or compound surfaces.
  • Process:
    • Utilising advanced 3D scanning technology, we capture the exact dimensions and curvature of the window area with precision.
    • The digital data is used to create a precise model for fabrication.
  • Advantages: Ensures unparalleled accuracy, particularly for complex geometries.

Step-by-Step Templating Process

1. Preparation:

  • Clean the window area thoroughly.
  • Apply tape around the window edges to create contrast for accurate tracing.

2. Template Creation:

  • Depending on the chosen method, create the template using Mylar, MDF, or digital scanning.

3. Documentation:

  • Record all necessary details on the template, including:
  • Glass thickness
  • Tint or coating specifications
  • Edge finishes
  • Certification requirements (e.g., ISO standards)
  • Vessel name and window location

4. Fabrication:

5. Installation:

  • Carefully install the new window, ensuring a perfect fit and seal.

The Importance of Accurate Templating

Accurate templating is vital for several reasons:

  • Structural Integrity: Ensures the window contributes to the vessel’s overall strength.
  • Weatherproofing: Prevents leaks and water ingress.
  • Aesthetic Consistency: Maintains the vessel’s design and appearance.
  • Compliance: Meets industry standards and certifications.

Expertise and Attention to Detail

Templating requires a high level of skill and attention to detail. Our team of experienced professionals is trained to handle the nuances of each method, ensuring that every template is crafted with precision. Factors such as sunlight reflection, complex curves, and tight tolerances are meticulously considered to achieve the best results.

Fitlock: Revolutionising Marine Interiors

Integ Marine Group, the parent company of Marine Window Services (MWS), is proud to be the sole representative of Fitlock in Australia. This revolutionary panel mounting system is changing the game in marine interiors, offering unmatched ease, precision, and durability. Designed with marine environments in mind, Fitlock is ideal for yachts, commercial vessels, defence applications, and recreational boats alike.

What is Fitlock?

Fitlock is a patented pressure fixing system designed for mounting panels and cladding on walls and ceilings. Developed by Genesis Interiors, Fitlock is engineered to meet the specific demands of the marine industry. The system uses a concentric mechanism to allow quick, secure, and tool-free attachment and removal of panels. This innovation enables perfect panel alignment, streamlining maintenance and inspection tasks without compromising aesthetics or structural integrity.

Why Fitlock is Ideal for Marine Applications

Marine environments present unique challenges: constant vibration, limited space, exposure to moisture, and the need for quick access to systems behind panels. Fitlock addresses all these challenges head-on:

  • Tool-Free Removal: Fitlock enables easy removal and replacement of panels, essential for routine maintenance, inspections, and upgrades.
  • Precision Alignment: The concentric locking system ensures panels align perfectly every time, even in tight or curved spaces.
  • Vibration Resistance: Fitlock is designed to stay secure in high-vibration environments, reducing the risk of loose or rattling panels.
  • Minimal Hardware: With fewer fixings and no need for visible fasteners, Fitlock maintains a clean, polished finish—ideal for luxury yacht interiors.
  • Lightweight and Durable: The system is both lightweight and robust, contributing to overall vessel efficiency without sacrificing strength.

Benefits Across Boat Types

Fitlock is not just for one type of vessel—it has broad applications across the marine sector:

  • Luxury Yachts: Ensure high-end finishes remain flawless while still allowing easy access for system maintenance and inspections.
  • Commercial Vessels: Maximise operational efficiency with rapid panel removal and installation during refits or maintenance checks.
  • Defence and Naval Ships: Maintain mission readiness with quick access to critical systems behind bulkheads and ceilings.
  • Recreational Boats: Improve usability and aesthetics without complex installations or modifications.

No matter the vessel type, Fitlock simplifies installation and future-proofing, allowing marine interiors to evolve as needed without excessive labour or downtime.
